Semaphore is Open Source
Semaphore’s core CI/CD platform is officially open source. Now, you can explore, tweak, and contribute to the same production-grade code that’s powered your deployments —under the Apache 2.0 license.
The team at Semaphore built the platform with real-world developers in mind, many of which have faced the frustrations of opaque pipelines and vendor lock-in. By opening their code, Semaphore is handing over the keys, so you can better understand how everything works, fix issues, and add new features.
Why the Change?
Today, developers are presented with rough options for CI/CD - choose open source that is flexible but doesn’t scale well - OR, accept vendor lock-in. Neither path is good.
Semaphore has grown beyond its initial vision, shaped by hours of collaboration with their amazing customers. Each improvement has emerged from deep partnerships with teams solving real-world delivery problems. Opening up the platform was the natural next step, expanding this collaborative spirit to a broader community.
The New Model
Semaphore is available in three editions, to meet the needs of different size teams. Each edition maintains clear boundaries between open source and commercial features.
Cloud - fully managed, offering pure cloud or hybrid solutions
Enterprise Edition - on premise deployment with advanced security and compliance features
Community Edition - core platform, now open source and free to use!
